A Legacy of Growth: The Story of Roden Echo Valley LLC
The History Of Bob Roden's Vision For Sustainable Farming & The Continuing Progression To Next Generation
From the heart of Saukville, Wisconsin, nestled along Cedar Sauk Road and later Highway O, lies a story of resilience, growth, and commitment to sustainability.
The story of Echo Valley Farms begins in 1969 when Andy and Deloris Fechter laid the foundation for what would later become Roden Echo Valley LLC.
While the Bob's first family farm off of his family homestead in Saukville began to outgrow its space and the city began to grow around them in Saukville, a farm in Trenton and its owners struggled.
This lead to an opportunity. And when Bob embraced that oppurtunity to by a stuggling and dablitated farm and restore it to it's former glory.
With a vision and a double 8 herringbone parlor, they set out to milk 300 cows, planting the seeds for a family legacy that would span generations.
From A Small Family Farm To A Growing Legacy
A Move To A New Community
Bob, the second oldest of ten children, was raised on the family farm in Saukville. As he grew, so did his passion for farming. In the mid-70s, Bob embarked on his own farming journey, starting with just 24 cows. By the 90s, his herd had grown to 70, a testament to his dedication and hard work.

In 1995, Bob and Cindy Roden took a significant step forward, purchasing the farm where they still reside today. Little did they know, this would mark the beginning of a new chapter in the farm's history.

The nexts came in 2003 when their son, Rick, joined the family business as a partner. With Rick's vision and determination, the herd expanded to 400 cows by 2014. It was a pivotal year for Roden Echo Valley LLC, as they unveiled their state-of-the-art cross-vented barn, capable of milking up to 650 cows.

The following year brought about a transformational change as Bob and Cindy, along with Rick and Melissa, formalized their partnership, forming Roden Echo Valley LLC. With a shared commitment to sustainability and growth, they embarked on a journey to redefine modern farming practices.

In 2022, the farm reached another milestone with the construction of a 40-stall rotary parlor, signaling a new era of efficiency and productivity. While some may question the choice of a smaller rotary, the decision was deliberate. With a focus on sustainability and land stewardship, the family opted for a size that aligned with their values, ensuring the farm remained environmentally conscious.

But Roden Echo Valley LLC is more than just a dairy farm; it's a beacon of sustainability in Ozaukee County. Bob, a founding member of Clean Farm Families, and his family actively participate in initiatives aimed at preserving the local watershed. From cover crops to minimum tillage practices, they lead by example, demonstrating their commitment to protecting the land for future generations.

Central to their sustainability efforts is a Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plan (CNMP), ensuring responsible use of resources and soil health management. By adopting practices like regular soil sampling and strategic manure application, they minimize environmental impact while maximizing crop yield.

Looking ahead, the Roden family remains steadfast in their commitment to sustainability and future generations. With Rick and Melissa's three children and Bob and Cindy's 21 grandchildren, the farm's legacy is secure.
As they sow the seeds for tomorrow, they do so with a profound sense of responsibility, knowing that their actions today will shape the landscape of agriculture for years to come.

Roden Echo Valley LLC stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of family, hard work, and sustainability. From humble beginnings to a thriving enterprise, their story is a reminder of the power of resilience and the importance of stewardship in building a better future for all.
